Amherstburg has to garner some forward momentum by being proactive in our pursuits. We need a plan of action, a path forward and the willingness to set, meet and exceed goals for our growth.
Our municipality has the potential to be the gem of Essex County if we are willing to work together towards our future - making Amherstburg the place to live, the place to visit and the place in which to invest.

Don't be surprised if you see things being tweaked and added to this platform. We all have a view of things from our own perspective and as I get out and speak to the residents I will make sure that my vision matches your concerns and together makes a viable plan for our town.

And please, contact me with any concerns, questions or ideas.

Affordability & Accessibility

We need to make sure our town is affordable for our seniors, our families and our young people. That means thinking outside the box to ensure housing is available for all. Council and administration should work with developers and all levels of government to find unique ways for everyone who wants to, to be able to call Amherstburg home.

We need to develop, build and renew amenities so residents aren't spending their disposable income to find things in other municipalities.  We need to ensure the quality of life in Amherstburg, making it so amenities can be found right here at home instead of in the next town over. We need to encourage the town and our businesses to become accessible in whatever way they can so all residents can enjoy all that we have to offer.

Our Small Business

We need to work toward removing barriers to success for our small, local businesses. We need to work in partnership with them to ensure their staying power and work with other organizations to draw businesses in to our town . It's important that ALL our small businesses are supported regardless of location.

Transit

We need to continue to look at the feasibility of a transit system to link Amherstburg to Lasalle and through there to Windsor allowing our residents to access jobs and schooling while maintaining a lifestyle in Amherstburg. The pilot project currently in the works needs to be a priority. A pilot project is great but we need to do what we can to ensure it succeeds.

Taxes and Water Rates

Encouraging and maintaining growth will help hold the line on taxes and water rates and other expenditures that taxpayers face. The more who pay taxes, the less the burden is on any one of us. We must also ensure that water rates are fair and equitable for all and that the reflect the reality of usage.

Plan the Work and Work the Plan

We need to plan for the future, set a course and make our way. The time of putting off decisions or advancing without a clear path is gone. Amherstburg needs to fulfil its amazing potential and we can only do that if we plan for it, decide on it, and follow through.

To that end we need a road map for next year, the next 5 years, the next ten years. Making a plan and following a plan is the only way to ensure that things get done in a fiscally responsible way.

Encourage Growth

We need to attract business, tourism and industry to our town. We need to encourage developers to build affordable housing so that young families want to and can live here thus replenishing our aging tax base. We can do this by collaboration between council, administration, residents, businesses and developers - the more we listen to each other, the more we learn and the more common ground we will find to reach our goals.

Our Diverse Geography

We need to reach out and listen to all areas of our municipality - rural, suburban, the island and the town core. Each is just as important as the other and their diverse wants and needs must be considered in our plans.

Town Assets

We must assess and evaluate all of our town assets to ensure that upkeep is being done so that we are not blindsided by large expenditures in the future because of maintenance that was neglected now.
